Family Liaison Services
Bridging the Gap Between Investigators and Families
Families of missing children often spend years—or even decades—waiting for answers. During that time, the lack of communication can become one of the most difficult aspects of their journey. At the same time, law enforcement agencies must balance the needs of victims' families with the demands of active investigations, limited personnel, and the daily responsibility of responding to new cases.
The Jack & Jill Rosenthal Foundation (JJRF) helps bridge that gap by serving as a dedicated family liaison, providing compassionate, consistent communication while allowing investigators to remain focused on the investigative process.
Supporting Both Families and Investigators
We understand that investigators are tasked with solving crimes in real time. Maintaining regular communication with families, answering questions, and providing updates can be time-consuming, particularly in long-term cold cases.
When requested by the investigating agency, JJRF can serve as a point of contact for families by:
Providing regular case status updates authorized by law enforcement
Explaining investigative processes and next steps
Answering general questions regarding JJRF's involvement
Offering encouragement and ongoing support throughout the review process
Helping families understand what to expect during various stages of an investigation
Reducing communication burdens on investigative personnel
Our goal is to foster trust, maintain transparency, and ensure that families continue to feel supported without creating additional demands on investigators.
Confidentiality Comes First
JJRF recognizes that protecting the integrity of an investigation is paramount.
Any information developed or obtained during our work on a case will be treated as confidential and shared only with the investigating law enforcement agency unless the agency provides express authorization for JJRF to disclose specific information to the family.
JJRF will never independently release investigative findings, discuss newly developed leads, disclose sensitive case information, or provide investigative updates that have not been approved by the investigating agency.
When new information is generated, it will be submitted directly to the lead agency. Decisions regarding what information is shared with the family, when it is shared, and how it is communicated remain solely with the investigating agency.
